Mois de la Mode: Fashions Most Important Month in Review.

Mois de la Mode
Fashion Month: Who Made the Cut, Line, Silhouette!

That’s right, Fashion Lovers! February Fashion Month has come and gone. While you were thinking about politics and race relations, I was gagging to death on the Fall 2012 Pret-a-Porter. Was what we saw on the runway really ready to wear? What I love most about fashion is that it is subject to opinion. What I might love, you might loathe. What you think is a piece sewn with the lord’s good graces, I might be inclined to find distasteful. My personal style is that of La Boheme. To me, there is just something so appealing about a slinky, natural, pure cotton peasant top! Something is simply sexy about a fine tailored pair of flared jean pants! I live for colors, prints, shapes, drama, swag, and creativity. After all, it is our differences that make us humans beautiful.

There are so many designers and collections with each passing year that you will need compasses to help you navigate your way through this FASHION UNIVERSE! It is a universe I like to call “La Mode.” It is a space in time comprised of planet Chanel, planet Diane von Furstenburg, planet Dolce and Gabbana, and planet Oscar de la Renta and many more. These designers are our world and guiding stars. And I am that compass. With that being said, let’s begin your session, my lovelies.

I mean, really! Weren't' all of those looks to choke and die for? Alice+Olivia showed their decadent side with long sparkling gowns that I, personally, loved. The luscious furs of  Dennis Basso, DKNY,  Douglas Hannant and Michael Kors made me long for tundra, AND I LOATHE SIBERIAN CLIMATE!  The use of leather belts for a variety of harnesses around the rib cage and shoes in Max Azria's line, Hervé Léger, were that extra something that catches the audience looking naughtily at the model thinking, "Oh you're bad..." Mara Hoffman and Skaist-Taylor are among those who gave me, a western take on the Femme Fatale or The Reno Ranch in the classic film "The Women". Most designers incorporated vibrant colors, reds, blues, and yellows along with the classic grey-scale. However, I thought Michael Kors presented color the best out of all designers registered for New York Fashion Week.

Thom Browne showed me a new type of outer worldly creature, one I would have loved to steal clothes from! Jenny Packham, Marchesa, Naeem Khan, ODLR, Ralph Lauren and Zac Posen had me living for glam.  Zac Posen, had Coco Rocha confidently gliding down the runway; totally doing it to me. As a season New York Fashion Week Veteran, it is only fitting to give him the clout he deserves because HIS SHOW WAS EVERYTHING. The hair, the jungle red lips and nails, the outstanding looks. I got the willies looking at Zac Posen's show. This has been your DOSE OF FASHION.  Open your beautiful lips, swallow this digest this post, and I hope you feel informed, and a little more creative about what you should wear next!
